GSA Taps Gilbane Building Co. to Construct State Dept Diplomacy Center

Department of the statesThe General Services Administration has awarded a $25 million contract to Gilbane Building Co. for the construction of the State Department’s diplomacy center.

The building will serve as museum and education center for visitors to explore the State Department’s history, practice and missions, the department said Thursday.

Gilbane Building will start the 18-month project in the summer and the center will form the State Department’s new public entrance.

Beyer Blinder Belle developed the architectural design and concept.

The privately-funded pavilion will accommodate technology exhibits upon completion, the State Department said.
