The two entities inked a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the Egyptian Academy of Transport Science and Technology north of Cairo, Thales said Monday.
âThis new joint initiative in the transport sector, and particularly in rail, will help us to develop the new generation of Egyptian engineers and managers, thereby serving the countryâs strategic objectives,â said Ibrahim El-Dimeery, Egyptâs transport minister.
Thalesâ corporate university will work to study the feasibility of the academy and propose urban and main line rail training programs.
The academy is set to accommodate an initial group of 200 students this year.
“This partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport follows on from projects already launched in 2010,â said Michelangelo Neri, managing director of Thales in Egypt.
