Lindenmoyer has worked to help the agency design and manage the Commercial Crew and Cargo Program as well as utilize Space Act Agreements to encourage industry participation, according to the newspaper.
âHe was pivotal because until he got the job no one had done it and we really didnât know how to do it,” NASA Administrator Charles Bolden told the publication.
âThe key thing is that Alan had the vision and the persistence to push a program through in the face of frequent opposition,â Bolden added.
NASA has used commercial spacecraft to transport scientific experiments and crew supplies to the International Space Station multiple times over the past two years and aims to ferry U.S. astronauts to and from the ISS through the program.
