Held at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, D.C., the event featured senior government and private-sector leaders in a wide-ranging discussion of issues, best practices, and strategies for responding to cyber threats.
âThe importance of cybersecurity can be summed up in one word: confidence,” Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said in his opening remarks at the event. “Thatâs what underpins everything we do on the Internet. We are now developing a policy framework for innovation and working to strengthen the connective tissue of the Internet.â
Several high-level administration and Congressional officials attended the symposium, including White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt, federal Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra, and Commerce Department General Counsel Cameron Kerry.
