Russel Rumbaugh, a systems director at The Aerospace Corp., has been nominated to serve as assistant secretary for financial management and comptroller at the Department of the Navy.

The former U.S. Army infantry officer analyzes institutional defense policy in his current post at the nonprofit corporation’s Center for Space Policy and Strategy, the White House said Friday.

Rumbaugh previously held analyst roles at the Senate Budget Committee, the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the CIA. He has taught defense budget to graduate students at Georgetown University, University of Maryland and George Mason University.

If confirmed, Rumbaugh would take over DON’s financial operations from acting ASN (FM&C) Alaleh Jenkins.
