David Wu Promoted to USDA Deputy Asst Secretary for Administration

David Wu, who joined the Department of Agriculture in October 2019, has been chosen to succeed Don Bice as deputy assistant secretary for administration.

Bice has led USDA's efforts to update its administrative services over the past two years, USDA said Friday.

Wu most recently served as principal deputy assistant secretary for administration and previously held various positions within the department's budget and program analysis office, where his duties included management of reporting processes and coordination of performance improvement tasks.

Prior to federal service, he directed business innovations and process improvements for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, and served as director of government transformation and chief operating officer for the state of Illinois.

Wu also worked for Mitch Daniels and Greg Ballard, respectively former governors of Indiana and Indianapolis. In addition, he has industry experience in journalism, startups and finance in the U.S. and overseas.
