CompTIA Unveils Blockchain Tech Guide for US Policymakers

1 min read

David Logsdon, senior director of public advocacy at the Computing Technology Industry Association, recently unveiled on Capitol Hill the organization’s guide on blockchain technology, StateScoop reported Wednesday.

The guide, entitled “Harnessing the Blockchain Revolution,” offers a framework meant to help policymakers “understand the promise, the uses and the questions that blockchain currently presents.”

To stimulate blockchain innovation, the document also recommended that Congress establish a “regulatory sandbox”–a controlled environment where blockchain research could be carried out with limited risk to developers and adopters.

In addition, the guide proposed that lawmakers convene a working group comprised of stakeholders from various sectors, whose responsibility will be to examine the different dimensions of the blockchain ecosystem, including security, regulation and standards.

In a statement, Logsdon said he and his organization hoped the guide would “demystify blockchain technology” and help public officials determine “whether blockchain might be the solution they are looking for to support essential government and public sector functions in an efficient, secure and transparent way.”
