Dan Galik, associate deputy assistant secretary for security operations at the Department of Veterans Affairs, will assume the role of acting deputy assistant secretary and chief information security officer at the VA, Fedscoop reported Wednesday.

Billy Mitchell writes that Galik will succeed Stan Lowe, who will retire after 25 years of service.

Galik has previously held the CISO position at the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Health and Human Services and worked on information assurance and security at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Defense Intelligence Systems Agency.

The U.S. Navy veteran will be responsible for the VA’s information systems security, the report said.
