railwayThales and the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training have agreed to form a rail academy in the United Arab Emirates as the country aims to grow its railway networks.

The academy will be established to train and deploy professionals and develop academic training programs that align with UAE’s main line rail and urban transit efforts, Thales said Tuesday.

“This new partnership with CERT will definitely support the development of the railway industry in the UAE and add value in the Emirati training & education market,” said Thibaut Trancart, Thales country director for UAE.

Tayeb Kamali, group chief executive at CERT, added that the cooperation aims to help UAE achieve its long-term development and strategic goals.

The alliance builds on an existing partnership between CERT and Thales that started in 1999 upon the creation of the CERT Thales Institute for defense technical training in UAE.
