DHS’ National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Research and Development Plan calls for the formation of cross-sector partnerships to explore approaches for risk assessment and management.
“Sharing information on threats and hazards, effective risk management strategies and operational best practices can help reduce risk and guide R&D investments,” DHS noted.
The department also seeks to integrate data science tools and methods for the surveillance of potential threats to U.S.’ cyber and physical systems.
DHS developed the plan with other agencies and industry partners in order to comply with a presidential policy directive and an executive order on critical infrastructure protection.
