Lt. Gen. Michael Basla, the Air Forceâs CIO and chief of information dominance, told an air and space exhibit in Maryland that he proposed integrating IT spending under one program management framework, according to the report.
Basla also said that technology infrastructure accounts for 40 to 70 percent of the service’s total IT budget, Serbu reports.
Air Force leaders are working to unite military networks into a single program of shared services.
“We’ve made great strides in AFNET migration, and it’s absolutely the precursor to joint information environment for us,” said Gen. William Shelton, head of Air Force Space Command.
