Trump made the deal with Pelosi and Schumer during a meeting at the White House Wednesday.
The House voted 419-3 Wednesday to pass a measure that would allocate $7.85 billion in funds for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
After the vote, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) introduced a bill late Wednesday night that would fund the government at current spending levels and increase the debt ceiling through Dec. 8 as well as raise the disaster relief budget to $15.25 billion.
McConnell said he would attach to the House-passed legislation the bill that is scheduled for a Senate vote by Friday.
The Hill also reported that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) intends to add spending cut provisions to the House-passed Hurricane Harvey recovery package.
âAs the Senate prepares to vote on hurricane aid, I will be introducing an âAmerica Firstâ amendment to cut wasteful spending from abroad to pay for much-needed relief here at home,” Paul said in a statement.
