Dr. Stacey Dixon, Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence (PDDNI), achieved yet another significant milestone in her career as she received her fifth Wash100 award. It is the fifth time she has received this accolade; the third time as the PDDNI.

Stacey Dixon assumed the role of Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) on August 4, 2021. 

 

Since her appointment, Dr. Dixon has applied decades of experience from the Intelligence Community (IC) to aid the Director of National Intelligence in seamlessly integrating national and homeland security intelligence, bolstering defense strategies, and supporting the US government’s national security interests.

 

Among Dr. Dixon’s strong points is her openness to acquiring new valuable knowledge and saying ‘yes’ to new career opportunities. Additionally, the PDDNI recognizes her colleagues’ and managers’ support as crucial to her success and status as an intelligence executive.

 

Stacey Dixon earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 1993. She also holds a Master of Science degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Stacey Dixon: A Five-time Wash100 Winner

Stacey Dixon is one of the 100 executives spotlighted for the Wash100 2024 awards. She struck gold for bolstering intelligence transparency and interoperability across the Intelligence Community.

 

Executive Mosaic (EM) CEO Jim Garrettson highlighted that Dr. Dixon’s five-time victory is due to her dedication to supporting the government contracting industry by bolstering intelligence transparency. 

 

“[Her] work at ODNI and within the broader intelligence community is leading our nation toward data centricity, AI readiness, and interoperability as we face increasing strategic competition. We honor Stacey not only for her leadership and innovation but for her commitment to advancing U.S. intelligence during this critical era,” Garrettson said. 

 

This year marks Stacey Dixon’s fifth consecutive Wash100 award. Her recognition as one of EM’s enduring and dedicated leaders builds on her leadership and objective to enhance data security, transparency, and versatility for national security missions.

Among Dr. Stacey Dixon’s notable accomplishments was developing guidelines for improving the personal vetting processes of the Trusted Workforce 2.0 framework. 

 

At a Senate Select Committee on Intelligence hearing held on March 19, 2023, Dr. Dixon said that the ODNI revised the framework by issuing new investigative and performance management requirements that ensure activities and capabilities acquiesce to the desired outcomes.

 

As a champion of data transparency, Stacey Dixon actively worked on promoting interoperability across the government and enabling leaders and policymakers better to understand the significance of intelligence in mission goals.

 

In July 2023, the ODNI launched a two-year roadmap that aims to bolster interoperability, discoverability, and accessibility across the IC and ensure intelligence agencies have artificial intelligence readiness.

 

Stacey Dixon’s Professional Background

 

Stacey Dixon has over 10 years of experience working in the Intelligence Community. Before joining the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, she served as the Deputy Director at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Her tenure at the foremost GEOINT agency helped her gain her first Wash100 award for driving new education platforms and addressing the workforce gap at the NGA

 

Previously, Dr. Dixon worked at the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA), an organization within the ODNI. She served as IARPA’s Director from September 2018 to June 2019 and as Deputy Director from January 2016 to August 2018. In these capacities, she oversaw geospatial intelligence research and development efforts. 

 

Dr. Stacey Dixon also gained career experience in the private sector. Before graduating from university, she worked as an intern at Nokia Bell Labs from June 1992 to August 1992.
