Daniel Sernovitz writes that a GSA presolicitation notice on FedBizOpps earlier this month indicated a tentative space requirement of up to 539,000 square feet in Montgomery or Prince George’s counties.
The facility would consolidate NIH operations in Rockville and Bethesda, while the agency’s main campus in Bethesda faces a separate planned update.
According to the report, NIH spokesperson Brad Moss said in an email the potential secondary campus works to drive operational efficiencies, workforce productivity and space flexibility as well as reduce congestion in the main campus.
The planned combination of the two prospectuses could also accelerate the process to fulfill NIH’s space needs and boost negotiation terms, Sernovitz reports.
