NTIA said Thursday in a Federal Register notice that it seeks input from industry, academia and civil society to address concerns related to commercial and private unmanned aircraft use.
President Barack Obama asked NTIA to initiate a multistakeholder engagement process to develop methods for civilian drone operators to be transparent and ensure privacy protection.
Comments are due April 20 and the agency also plans to hold a public meeting in Washington, D.C., to gather input on the matter.
NTIA aims to develop guidelines to facilitate reporting of commercial unmanned aerial vehicle operations and encourage proper UAV data collection and dissemination.
