Aaron Boyd writes Obama asked Congress to earmark $49.1 billion in civilian IT funding and $37.3 billion for military IT spending.
The White House also seeks a $450 million budget to support Open Data and PortfolioStat initiatives as well as to expand operations of the U.S. Digital Service, according to the report.
“The administration has placed a high priority on transparency and, in particular, on opening government data as fuel for private sector innovation and public use,” the White House said in a budget proposal obtained by Federal Times.
Obama’s annual budget request also calls for $16 million in funds to help the General Services Administration run e-government programs, Boyd writes.
