Billy Mitchell writes 35 cybersecurity teams from the academia, industry and security community will compete for DARPAâs Cyber Grand Challenge worth $2 million.
Contestants will work to reverse engineer a challenge software and patch its vulnerabilities using automated computer systems during a live network tournament, according to the report.
âThe only effective approach to defending against todayâs ever-increasing volume and diversity of attacks is to shift to fully automated systems capable of discovering and neutralizing attacks instantly,â said Mike Walker, DARPA program manager.
The tournament will close in Las Vegas in conjunction with the 2016 Def Con Conference cybersecurity contest, FedScoop reports.
Mitchell writes DARPA unveiled an open-source platform called DECREE for the participating teams to assess their software.
