Researchers at the Northern Plains research complex will fly a Draganflyer X4ES drone to monitor soil quality and crops, the Federal Aviation Administration said Monday.
The first flights will take place over North Dakota State Universityâs Carrington Research Extension Center in Carrington.
A second set of mission is scheduled for summer 2014 over Sullys Hill National Game Preserve near Devils Lake.
North Dakota is one of six U.S. locations that have been chosen by FAA to support an agency program aimed at integrating drones into national airspace.
