Rutrell Yasin writes the Risk Based Inspection System launched in May and works to prioritize 50,000 out of 300,000 total buildings for its annual inspection.
Lauren Talbot, chief programmer in the data analytics office, told GCN the city believes the RBIS system is stable in its ability to predict but needs to add more data and risk factors.
Yasin reports the Risk Based Inspection System contains building information such as type, storefront, manufacturing facility, construction materials, fire-proof features, height, age, last inspection date, occupancy and violation history.
The system works to use information from databases from FDNY and the city planning, buildings, environment protection, finance departments through a common data infrastructure used by the mayor’s data analytics office.
