Pentagon Declares $2B in Additional Security Assistance to Ukraine

The U.S. Department of Defense has announced a security assistance package valued at $2 billion to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian invasion.

DOD said Friday the military capabilities in the package to be provided through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative include Switchblade 600, Altius-600, CyberLux K8, Altius-600 and Jump 2 unmanned aerial systems.

The Pentagon will also provide additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, 155mm artillery rounds, munitions for laser-guided rocket systems, counter-UAS and electronic warfare detection equipment, secure communications support equipment, mine clearing equipment and fuding for training, sustainment and maintenance.

The White House marked the first anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war by delivering economic support to Ukraine through the disbursement of $9.9 billion in grant financing and strengthening the Eastern European country’s energy infrastructure through shipment of electrical transmission grid equipment to Ukraine.

The U.S. government will also hold Russia accountable for its war of aggression by enacting sanctions on the latter’s economy, limiting exports and raising tariffs on Russian products.
