The Professional Services Council has commended Congress for passing a bipartisan budget measure that would appropriate funds for defense and nondefense operations.
President Donald Trump signed Friday the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018.
David Berteau, PSC president and CEO, said in a statement published Friday the spending policy bill provides Congress time to finalize appropriations for the remaining months of fiscal 2018 through late March and an opportunity to come up with a spending measure for fiscal 2019.
PSC expressed concerns with the details of Trump’s fiscal 2019 budget request and a nondefense spending increase of approximately $63 billion for fiscal 2018.
The council noted the distribution of the proposed rise in nondefense spending may affect agency functions and missions.
“PSC will be watching both of these issues and updating our views as soon as more information becomes available,†Berteau added.
