Maj. Gen. John Horner, former deputy director of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency at the Office of the Secretary of Defense, has been appointed as director of the Defense Department Special Access Program Central Office.
DoD said Friday Horner will also serve as the director of special programs at the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics at the Pentagon.
Horner recently served as acting director of DTRA, head of the U.S. Strategic Command‘s standing joint force headquarters for the elimination of weapons of mass destruction as well as acting director of Stratcom’s Center for Combating WMD at Fort Belvoir.
He also recorded more than 4,000 flight hours as a command pilot and held various roles for operations, intelligence, command and control and manpower and personnel for the U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service, U.S. European Command, Air Force Aerospace Strategy Development Branch and U.S. Central Air Forces.
