TheÂ U.S. Navy has assigned Rear Adm.Â Patrick Piercey, currentlyÂ director of operations with theÂ U.S. Pacific Command, to serve with theÂ U.S. European Command asÂ chief of staff.
With this assignment, Piercey will be transferred fromÂ Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii, toÂ Stuttgart, Germany, theÂ Defense DepartmentÂ said Friday.
He began his military service in 1985 upon graduating from theÂ U.S. Naval Academy. Throughout is Navy career, Piercey held commanding duties aboard naval shipsÂ USS Ronald Reagan, USS Bunker HillÂ and USS Howard.
On USS John C. StennisÂ and USS Mississippi, he served as reactor officer andÂ engineer officer, respectively.
Piercey holds a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and a master’s degree in military arts and science from the Army Command and General Staff College.
He is also a recipient of multiple military awards and merits such as theÂ Defense Superior Service Medal and theÂ Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
