Ron Thompson, Department of Health and Human Services’ executive director of information technology infrastructure and operations, will join the Department of Veterans Affairs as the Office of Information and Technology’s principal deputy assistant secretary, FedScoop reported Thursday.
Billy Mitchell writes Thompson will serve as the lead adviser to VA Chief Information Officer LaVerne Council.
Council told his staff in an email that Thompson will advise on policy and budget formulation, business requirements evaluation, acquisition, internal and external coordination and development of program data, according to the report.
Thompson previously held IT positions with the U.S. Census Bureau, Internal Revenue Service and the Financial Management Service, Mitchell reports.
