Report: OMB Works With Agencies on Plans for Possible Govt Shutdown

1 min read

CongressThe Office of Management and Budget has told federal agencies to prepare for the possibility of a government shutdown after Sept. 30 if funding expires, Federal News Radio reported Tuesday.

Nicole Ogrysko writes that with Congress yet to schedule a vote on a continuing resolution to fund the government in the short term, OMB has already tasked agencies to review legal requirements and ongoing programs.

“[The] administration is willing to accept a clean, short-term continuing resolution to fund government operations and allow Congress more time to negotiate an agreement,” OMB said in a statement, according to the report.

Ogrysko reports that agencies faced lost funding and employees moving to work for other organizations during the previous shutdown in 2013.
