Deseve is the Senior Advisor to the President for Recovery and Reinvestment. Previously, during the Clinton administration, he was the acting Office of Management and Budget deputy director.
Deseve has held a variety of roles both in the public and private sector. He has worked as the Controller for OMB, as well as the Chief Financial Officer at the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development. He was Special Assistant to the Governor of Pennsylvania, as well as Director of Finance for the City of Philadelphia. Additionally, he was worked for KPMG (as a partner and national industry leader), at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets (as Managing Director), and Affiliated Computer Services (as Senior VP). He has formed many consulting firms in his career as well, for example, one he established was Public Financial Management Incorporated.
Deseve is a graduate of Cornell University, where he received a B.S in Labor Economics. He later received his Masters in Government Administration in Public Finance from the University of Pennsylvania. DeSeve was a professor at University of Marylandâs School of Public Policy for 8 years. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at University of Pennsylvaniaâs Fels Institute for Government. He also was a Senior Fellow at James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership. Most recently, he was the Chairman of Strategy and Solution Partners, which is a company that offers consulting services to non-profits as well as government.
