In August 2019, the Department of Veterans Affairs selected Triwest Healthcare Alliance for its “Community Care Network” (CNN) contract to manage the department’s network of care service providers.
The CCN contract held Triwest responsible for customer service, claims, case management, and disease management services in Region 4, which includes 13 states, namely Arizona, Colorado, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Wyoming, Utah, Washington, Montana, and Hawaii. It also aided the veterans’ access to pharmacy, dental, and medical benefits not readily available at local VA medical centers.
2. Department of Defense Awarded TRICARE Contract for the West Region, $16 Billion

In July 2009, Triwest Healthcare Alliance was awarded an estimated $16 billion contract award by the U.S. Department of Defense. The contract was to make the TRICARE program accessible to almost 2.7 million U.S. military personnel and their dependents in 21 states in the Western United States.
The performance period started in April 2010 through 2015. Triwest received support from Blue Shield of California, a not-for-profit health plan providing Californians access to high-quality health care at an affordable price.
3. Department of Defense Awarded Military Healthcare Contract, $10 Billion

In June 2004, Triwest Healthcare Alliance won an estimated $10 billion contract award from the Department of Defense. Under the Tricare Next Generation “T-Nex” contract award, Triwest was one of the bidders who won and represented the TRICARE West Region covering 21 states.
This project will run for 10 months of maximum transition with five one-year option periods for healthcare delivery.
The subcontractors for the Triwest Healthcare Alliance initiative were Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corp and Spectrum Health Resources, who provided systems support and claims processing and resource-sharing services management, respectively.
4. The Department of Veterans Affairs Awarded Contract to Maintain a Network of Healthcare Providers and Practitioners in Alaska

In October 2020, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs awarded a contract to Triwest Healthcare Alliance as its third-party administrator to oversee its Community Care Network in Region 5, including Alaska.
This contract serves as a part of the Veterans Affairs’ modernization and the design of a network according to the feedback from the Veterans and stakeholders and lessons from the Veterans Choice program. CCN’s implementation in Regions 1 to 4 brought improved customer service for Veterans and fast transactions with community providers.
5. The Department of Veteran Affairs Awarded Triwest Healthcare Alliance to Administer the Patient-Centered Community Care Program

In September 2013, the Department of Veterans Affairs awarded an estimated $4.3 billion contract to Triwest Healthcare Alliance to help administer the Veterans Affairs Patient-Centered Community Care Program serving over half of eligible veterans in the country in Regions 3, 5, and 6. These regions cover 28 states and Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
The new agreement required Triwest to provide high-quality healthcare services through a network of providers, including patient appointments, referral management, medical documentation tracking, claims payment, and more.
