Lt. Gen. Michael Groen, director of the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) and 2021 Wash100 Award recipient, said the Department of Defense’s (DOD) warfighting enterprise systems must evolve to integrate with artificial intelligence technology, DOD News reported Tuesday.

“We have to think about enterprise effects, decision tools that derive from massive data flows and integrated infrastructure that allows any sensor to inform any decision maker or any sensor to inform any system,” Groen told attendees at a National Defense Industrial Association-hosted event.

He urged DOD to pursue a comprehensive approach to transform large-scale AI implementation projects and noted that the private sector could support the department in national security missions using the technology.

The Marine Corps lieutenant general added JAIC aims to help the Pentagon address operational efficiency and effectiveness goals.

Groen will deliver a keynote speech at the Potomac Officers Club’s 3rd Annual Artificial Intelligence Summit on March 30th. To register for this virtual forum and view other upcoming events, visit the Potomac Officers Club Events page. You can also click the banner above.
