AT&T has announced that its LTE nationwide coverage has surpassed over 2.61 million square miles of the nation to support AT&T and FirstNet subscribers, the company announced on Tuesday.

“We’re on target to add more coverage than them again this year. By expanding our wireless coverage footprint, we’re laying the foundation for 5G, and we’re bringing our nation’s first responders the most expansive dedicated platform with innovative capabilities to strengthen their incident response wherever their mission takes them,” said Chris Sambar, executive vice president, technology and operations, AT&T.

AT&T’s FirstNet network will boost network capacity and accelerate coverage expansion. It will provide public safety with additional access, including always-on priority and preemption and high-quality Band 14 spectrum to enable faster performance.

“As more and more public safety agencies turn to FirstNet for their communication needs – from massive events to emergency situations like wildfires and hurricanes – we remain steadfast in our commitment to News Release aggressively expand the network and the innovative solutions first responders depend on. And this is only the beginning.”

Because of the company’s advanced capabilities and expanded network, AT&T has helped to modernize public safety communication and transform emergency reporting and response, creating a more efficient and reliable design.

AT&T has spearheaded new cost-effective solutions to provide agencies enhanced situational awareness by expanding its deployable program to include a Compact Rapid Deployable (CRD). The smaller portable cell site will simplify deployment in the field, requiring only one person to setup and create  an area of LTE and Wi-Fi coverage.

“AT&T’s recognition as the public safety company of the year is a testament to their ongoing dedication to serving America’s first responders. We look forward to another year of FirstNet expansion with AT&T and the public safety community,” said FirstNet Authority Acting CEO Edward Parkinson.
