PresidentÂ TrumpÂ announced plans to nominate Eugene Scalia, a partner in the Washington office of law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, to serve as the next secretary of the Department of Labor, Politico reported Thursday. âGene has led a life of great success in the legal and labor field and is highly respected not only as a lawyer, but as a lawyer with great experience working with labor and everyone else,âÂ Trump wrote in a tweet posted Thursday.Â
Previously, Scalia has served as a solicitor at DOL and as a special assistant to the attorney general at the Department of Justice. He is the son of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. His selection for the role came days after Labor Secretary Alexander AcostaÂ announced his resignation.
