Reps. Don Beyer, D-Va., Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., and Adam Schiff, D-Calif., wrote a letter to request funds for the Department of Energy to develop clean energy technologies. The letter, addressed to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, responds to the Trump administration's proposal to remove fund allotments for the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, Beyer's office said Wednesday.
“We urge the committee to support significant increases in funding for ARPA-E to enable it to become as transformative and successful as DARPA has been," the representatives wrote.
The proposal would affect the ARPA-E's activity in fiscal year 2020. Other DOE clean energy programs include the Energy Innovation Hubs and Energy Frontier Research Centers.
