John Felker has served as the director of the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center at the Department of Homeland SecurityÂ since August 2015.
HeÂ manages the NCCIC’s day-to-day cybersecurity information sharing, incidentÂ response and coordinationÂ functions.
Before he joined DHS, FelkerÂ worked as director of cyber and intelligence strategy at Hewlett Packard EnterpriseÂ for two yearsÂ as well asÂ vice president of cybersecurity programs at SCI Consulting.
He also spent 30 yearsÂ atÂ the U.S. Coast Guard, where he previously held various leadership positions such asÂ deputy commander for the military service’s Cyber Command and commander of the branch’s Cryptologic Group that conductsÂ signals intelligence missions as well asÂ develop SIGINTÂ platforms.
The USCG veteran also served asÂ executive assistant to the director of Coast Guard intelligence and helped coordinate directorate activities across the National Intelligence Community management enterprise.
Felker is a recipient of theÂ Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Ithaca College and a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University.
