OPM Gives DHS Hiring Authority for 1,000 Cyber Personnel

cybersecurityThe Office of Personnel Management granted Schedule A excepted service authority to the Department of Homeland Security in September to hire up to 1,000 new cybersecurity personnel.

In a notice posted Tuesday on the Federal Register, OPM stated that the hiring authority is valid through the end of June 2016 or when the Border Patrol Agency Pay Reform Act regulations become effective.

Cyber positions available at DHS cover responsibilities such as risk analysis, incident response, network and systems engineering, intelligence analysis and cyber exercise facilitation.

The notice also includes approved Schedule C appointing authorities for several federal agencies.
