The National Institute of Standards and Technology will invest up to $16.3 million for five-year cooperative agreement in Wisconsin as part of an effort to further the government’s manufacturing investment.

NIST said Friday it will fund the Hollings Manufacturing Partnership to assist small and medium-sized manufacturers in customer development and market expansion initiatives in collaboration with state and federal partners.

“This award is part of an important competition process that has given us the opportunity to review and reset funding for MEP centers across the country,” said Phillip Singerman, NIST’s associate director for innovation and industry services.

“It is helping to keep MEP centers like the one in Wisconsin in a position to meet the changing needs of manufacturers,” Singerman added.

The Wisconsin Center for Manufacturing and Productivity will provide products and services in exporting and supply chain management for power generation, water, food and beverage, biotechnology and aerospace customers.

The center also plans to forge manufacturing partnerships with NASA and Ohio-based America Makes.
