The Professional Services Council has called on the Office of Management and Budget to revise or withdraw the agency’s draft guidance entitled “Improving Cybersecurity Protections in Federal Acquisitions.”
PSC President and CEO Stan Soloway said Monday in a letter to Anne Rung, administrator at the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, and Federal Chief Information Officer Tony Scott that the guide does not offer a unified approach for agencies and contractors to meet cyber requirements in the government acquisition process.
Soloway added OMB did not include government and contractor training platforms in the document nor provide common information technology security definitions related to procurement.
He also believes the guidance is not aligned with existing federal cybersecurity rules.
“OMB guidance will be most helpful if it ensures consistent, streamlined reporting requirements across federal agencies and focuses on improving cybersecurity outcomes rather than just increasing oversight,” he wrote.
