The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence of the National Institute of Standards and Technology has unveiled its proposals for cyber measures in email security and Personal Identity Verification credentials on mobile devices.
NIST said Thursday the two draft “building blocks” will work to address cybersecurity issues among businesses and are open for public comment through Aug. 14.
NCCoE proposes the usage of the DNS-Based Authentication of Named Entities or DANE protocol for email security and a combination of PIV cards and passwords for two-factor authentication on mobile devices.
The center worked with academia, industry and government partners to develop the cyber building blocks as part of NIST’s Cybersecurity Practice Guides, the agency added.
The draft “Domain Name System-Based Security for Electronic Mail” and “Derived Personal Identity Verification Credentials” documents are available on the NCCoE website.
