The Office of Management and Budget has issued a final guide to help federal agencies implement Federal IT Acquisition Reform Act requirements, U.S. Chief Information Officer Tony Scott wrote in a blog post published Wednesday.

Scott said the “Management and Oversight of Information Technology Resources” guidance document offers strategies for agency CIOs to get more involved in IT procurement, workforce and budget management activities.

The publication is also designed to help CIOs become more accountable for how their respective agencies leverage digital technology to execute their missions and programs, according to Scott.

He added he aims to drive the White House’s Smarter IT Delivery Agenda through FITARA.

Scott noted he also expects OMB to introduce new approaches for agencies to acquire and manage commercial IT and data infrastructure products.
