middleton_carmen_small (1)Carmen Landa Middleton serves as director of the open source center at CIA since August 2014.

She was previously the director of CIA’s center for mission diversity and inclusion and deputy director of the office of corporate resources within the directorate of intelligence.

Middleton also served as senior executive officer to Donald Kerr, the principal deputy director of national intelligence and former director of the national reconnaissance office.

The 30-year government service veteran started her career as an open source editor in the Foreign Broadcast Information Service.

Middleton holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish language and literature from the University of California in Santa Barbara and also studied at the University of Madrid.
