MeriTalk: Federal Data Centers Get ‘C’ Grade in Downtime Management

1 min read

DataCenterThirty-six percent of 300 federal data center professionals surveyed by MeriTalk have assigned a C grade to downtime management work at their agencies’ data repository hubs, Federal Times reported Friday.

Andy Medici writes the Symantec-underwritten research polled 150 employees working in federal data centers and another 150 government staff who oversee data center policies.

The survey indicates that only 29 percent of respondents believe their IT departments are fully aware of how downtime affects an agency’s ability to deliver mission.

Twenty-three percent gave their data centers an A grade for efforts to deliver required data to agency users on a daily basis, according to Federal Times.

Medici reports that most workers responding to the MeriTalk survey said reliability is a top priority for agency-run data centers.
