The Department of the Navy and Purdue University will continue to work on a research initiative that is intended to further the development of alternative energy resources.Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Purdue University President Mitch Daniels are set to ink an agreement on Thursday at the Purdue campus, Purdue said Wednesday.
The cooperation is part of a goal Mabus set in 2009 for the Navy and Marine Corps to obtain half of their total energy consumption from alternative sources by 2020.
Mabus also recently called on the Department of the Navy to modify how it uses and produces energy, Purdue says.
