HealthThe Defense Department is in talks with Premier Biomedical Inc. over a potential treatment for head trauma.

Ft. Bliss, Texas-based William Beaumont Army Medical Center will work with Premier Biomedical to launch clinical trials to identify a possible cure for depression-causing head trauma, Premier Biomedical said Thursday.

“We are excited to take this next further step together involving staged clinical trials to bring us that much closer to developing a cure for those who are suffering the effects of head trauma-related incidents,” said William Hartman, president and CEO of Premier Biomedical.

Hartman added that the treatment could also apply to the public as a whole, including “those injured during sports participation.”

Premier Biomedical previously completed a laboratory work to remove molecular compounds from cerebral-spinal fluid that researchers believe to contribute to depression.
