DOE said Wednesday the Renewable Energy and Efficient Energy Projects Loan Guarantee solicitation aims to support technologies in the areas of advanced grid integration and storage, drop-in biofuels, waste-to-energy, enhancement of existing facilities and efficiency improvements.
Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz said the loan guarantees through the DOE’s Loan Programs Office have helped support the department’s clean energy portfolio by building up clean energy technologies such as the utility-scale solar industry.
“We want to replicate that success by focusing on technologies that are on the edge of commercial-scale deployment today,” he said.
A 30-day public comment and feedback period and public meetings have been scheduled to prepare for the final solicitation.
