Omnibus Bill Includes $572B for Pentagon’s FY 2014 Budget

PentagonAn omnibus funding bill unveiled by legislators Monday evening includes a measure that provides the Defense Department with a $572 billion budget for the current fiscal year, Defense News reported Monday.

John Bennett writes the measure allocates $92.9 billion to support the Pentagon’s acquisition programs and $63 billion for research and development projects.

The proposal sets DoD operations and maintenance accounts funding at $159.9 billion, according to Bennett’s report.

Overall, $487.6 billion is intended for the Pentagon’s base budget and $85 billion for overseas operations.
