Research firm Deltek has found that federal agencies collectively awarded $17 billion in cloud computing contracts during the 2013 fiscal year, the Washington Post reported Sunday.
Analyst Alex Rossino writes civilian agencies accounted for the largest share of contracts at $16.5 billion, while defense agencies awarded $65 million total.
Some of the fiscal year’s largest deals include the Interior Department’s potential $10 billion Foundation Cloud Hosting Services vehicle and the CIA’s $600 million award to Amazon for a cloud infrastructure.
The Defense Information Systems Agency’s could award a commercial cloud contract bid next calendar year after launching its cloud broker program office, according to Rossino.
