Amber Corrin writes NIST officials finished the draft framework after seven months of work and the agency intends to issue the preliminary draft framework on Oct. 10.
NIST Director Patrick Gallagher told a cybersecurity conference Sept. 25 that NIST could still release the draft despite the shutdown, Corrin writes.
Adam Sedgewick, NIST senior information technology policy adviser, told the publication the agency combined public workshops and engagements during a 240-day development of the framework.
“We’ve structured the whole 240 days to try to maximize the amount of public engagement and feedback we could get,” he told FCW.
