New SEC Division to Launch Predictive Analytics Program; Giulio Girardi Comments

1 min read

SecurityLockA new Securities and Exchange Commission division will implement an analytics program next month intended to manage and prevent financial defaults by assessing fiscal accounts, FCW reported Wednesday.

Adam Mazmanian writes the SEC’s division of economic and risk analysis will work to apply a predictive analytics method with the goal goal to collect information that can help identify businesses that face monetary problems.

Giulio Girardi, an economist in the division’s quantitative research office, told FCW the SEC would evaluate relevant data and provide investigators details to use as reference for inquiries and further actions.

Girardi, who spoke Wednesday during the Predictive Analytics World Government conference, said histories of defaulted companies are also used as a basis to determine if the financial model’s forecasts are accurate.
