GSATrump Organization has reached an agreement with the General Services Administration to renovate the Old Post Office Building in Washington, D.C. into a hotel.

Under a $200 million plan, the Trump Hotel Collection will build 270 guest rooms, penthouses, suites, restaurants, a café, bar and lounge, banquet, ballroom, meeting halls, a 4,000-square-foot spa, library, museum, gallery and gardens, the company said Monday.

Trump Hotel Collection will rename the property on Pennsylvania Avenue into Trump International Hotel, The Old Post Office Building, and construction will begin in 2014, with the opening slated for 2015.

“The Trump Organization may be New York based, but they have been working with us here in the Congress in great anticipation of developing a hotel in the nation’s capital since winning the competition required by our bill, the Old Post Office Redevelopment Act,” said Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.

Donald Trump, president and chairman of The Trump Organization, said the project aims to preserve the building’s architecture while adding amenities and modernizing the design.

The GSA picked Trump Organization in 2012 as developer of The Old Post Office.
