The U.S. Army will hold forums at bases and other installations across the country this month to hear feedback from the community on plans to reduce Army forces.

Not including reductions under sequestration, the Army started reducing its force by 80,000 soldiers in fiscal year 2012 and initially focused its efforts internationally, the Army said Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Peggy Kageleiry, Army spokesman, said in a release that the Army is aiming for a force of around 409,000 soldiers after completing the reductions.

The Army will start reducing forces in the U.S. in 2014, Kageleiry said, adding more cuts may be needed to find savings under sequestration.
