Report: Agencies Starting Discussing Sequestration With Workers

1 min read

budgetFederal agencies were set to begin discussing how their employees would be affected by sequestration budget cuts scheduled to kick in Jan. 2, Federal Times reports.

Citing union sources, Stephen Losey writes furloughs and other personnel actions will not go into effect immediately on that date.

Those actions would commence if sequestration is not resolved for an extended period of time, Losey writes.

Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry and Office of Management and Budget Controller Danny Werfel informed federal employee unions of the plans in a conference call, according to the report.

OMB also told unions scheduled personnel actions would be called off if Congress reaches a deal to avert the sequester.
