Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis) was given a waiver to continue serving as chairman of the House Budget Committee, National Journal reports.

Citing a senior House GOP source, Billy House reports Ryan is part of a fiscal cliff working group that also comprises of Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp and Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton, both of Michigan.

That group is meeting daily during the lame duck session of Congress, House writes.

The term limit per party for a chairman or ranking member seat is up to six consecutive years regardless of the party holding majority control.
